Synopsis:
For the son of the Grand Knight Commander, war was inevitable.
Cedric’s father had been away at war for years, while Cedric sparred and trained on his own, awaiting the day he could claim his title as squire and make his father proud. But when his father finally returned, he brought with him an orphaned boy Cedric’s age. Though Cedric didn’t mind sharing a room with Rowan, he was uncertain about the change in his father. The same man who had boasted of Cedric’s skill with a sword was now trying to talk Cedric out of his destiny. Still, nothing could deter Cedric from his training. Nothing, of course, until the dangers from the war snuck right into the castle, forcing Cedric to see the reality of what being a knight was actually like.
Now, Cedric could begin his training in earnest, but there were too many questions: could he start down this path, even if it meant he would make the same mistakes his father did? Even if it meant leaving behind his family, risking his life, hurting the ones he cared about most? And, worse, how could he tell the others of such thoughts when there was supposed to be nothing more important than protecting his kingdom?
